ZAGAN ACOUSTIC IN SHORT...
The name of the
band comes from the accordionist’s last name, Paweł Zagańczyk.
During one of the concerts at Gdańsk Academy of Music together
with a violinist, Joachim Łuczak, he brilliantly played Astor
Piazzolla’s Tango. Four years have passed…Since
then, Zagan Adoustic performed approximately 300 concerts in
Poland, Slovakia, Germany and Switzerland.

EXTRAORDINARY SOUND
It is achieved thanks to accordion – one of the most beautiful
instruments in the Polish music culture. Zagan Acoustic is a
sound combination of violin and accordion which is currently
on the top again. The duet is excellent for playing Argentinian
Tango, jazz standards or classical music.
WHAT IS
ZAGAN ACOUSTIC CONERTS’ ATMOSPHERE LIKE?
The band plays
mainly Astor
Piazzolla’s music and Richard Galliano’s - French accordion virtuoso.
Moreover, in our
repertoire
we have our own arrangements of Klezmer and Jewish music or jazz
standards. The audience
like most the
band’s own programme “Save from
oblivion”
which is the compilation of Polish composers’ music: Henryk
Wars, Jerzy Petersburski or Kabaret Starszych Panów.
PROFESIONAL MUSICIANS
All the members of the band
are professional musicians who graduated from the
Academy of Music in Gdańsk. The band often
represents the academy
during the solo and chamber concerts with a great success.
Zagan Acoustic has
won many awards.: the
1st prize at International Entertaining and Chamber Music
Competition in Giżycko, the
2nd prize at International Accordion Competition in Poprad in
Slovakia.
Krzesimr Dębski,
a well-known composer around the world,
composed one of his works specially for Zagan Acoustic.
INTERESTING MUSIC IDEAS
In May 2009,
thanks to the kindness of the
Culture and Art Centre in
Pruszcz Gdański, we performed the
premiere of Sergei Prokfiev’s Peter and the Wolf in
Joachim Łuczak’s arrangement. The performance was
very original because of the instruments used. The role of the
narrator was played by a famous
Polish actor Wiktor Zborowski.
